Cabin Camping

Enjoy a weekend stay in our bunk house style cabins. Each Cabin is gas heated, and has a gas cook top and electric refrigerator. All weekend campers have 24 hour access to our state-of-the-art private showers and rest rooms throughout their stay. Combine your camping trip with our food service options to maximize the time spent with the Scouts actively participating in the great outdoors.

Canoeing

Camp Sayre has two canoe trailers (16 canoes in all) available for rent for Scout Troops, along with all the safety gear and equipment needed for a great day on the river. Local rivers provide a great opportunity to explore and practice your canoeing skills. Troops can enjoy a great day of canoeing or combine the trip with camping adventure and create a memorable adventure.

Hiking

Enjoy a one hour hike to Great Blue Hill to soak up the spectacular views of Boston and the Atlantic Ocean. Cubs will enjoy the Trail side Museum with live hawks, deer, and other wild critters found in the blue hills.

Outdoor Cooking

Learn the basics of fire building, types of fuel and most importantly great outdoor recipes. Ask your instructor for the basics (never cooked outside) to the extravagant (four star meal) or quirky (meals cooked in a paper bag?). At the conclusion of the class enjoy your meal an next time you camp - you'll be the expert!

Rock Climbing

This day long activity is great for all scouts. Earn the merit badge or simply perfect your skills. The day begins with instruction in safety and basic skills and ends atop a cliff with views of the Blue Hills or the Boston Skyline. Merit badges may be earned by average climbers.

Swimming

The Egan Center pool will re-open for weekend campers this June. This allows boy scouts the opportunity to take their swim test prior to summer camp, get a head start on swimming merit badge, or just cool off during a great weekend camping trip.

Tent Camping

Enjoy a weekend stay at one of our campsites. All weekend campers have 24 hour access to our state-of-the-art private showers and rest rooms throughout their stay. Combine your camping trip with our food service options to maximize the time spent with the Scouts actively participating in the great outdoors.

Adirondack Camping

Enjoy a weekend stay at one of our Adirondacks. All weekend campers have 24 hour access to our state-of-the-art private showers and rest rooms throughout their stay. Combine your camping trip with our food service options to maximize the time spent with the Scouts actively participating in the great outdoors. Each Adirondack sleeps 10 and has an established fire ring for cooking.

Compass Courses and Geocaching

Discover the beauty of the blue hills and search for the artifacts left behind by other Scouts and hikers. Bring your own maps, compasses or GPS device or rent ours and enjoy the day!

Mountain Biking

Blue Hills is home to miles of mountain biking terrain. The trails will serve everyone in your troop from novice to expert. Bring your own bikes or rent a bike and other equipment from Camp Sayre.
